About our Taize Service

The Taize-style service is a beautiful, reflective service that includes communal prayer, a brief period of silence, the sacrament of Communion, and music from the Taize community.

Taize is an ecumenical community of brothers located in a small village in eastern France. The brothers come from different Christian traditions, from over twenty-five countries and every continent. They make a life commitment to live together in joy, simplicity and mercy, a sign of the Gospel's call to reconciliation. The Taize community is renowned for a unique form of congregational song that was created there. The "music from Taize" is characterized by simple, repetitive phrases set to eminently tuneful melody. Some have speculated that these musical chants could well be the most widely used church music in the world. That claim is based on the thousands of pilgrims, among them many young adults, who come through Taize in the course of a year and carry the music back with them to all corners of the world.

All are invited to the Wednesday evening Taize-style worship service, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel, followed by soup & bread for those who would like.
